Design of the year 2013 * part II

In a previous post we announced you the nominees for Designs of the year 2013 in categories architecture and digital. This time we will announce the missing categories in fashion and furniture.

So, Design Museum announced shortlist for Fashion category was:

Anna Karenina Costumes – Designed by Jacqueline Durran

Two million dollars’ worth of Chanel diamonds and vintage Balenciaga-inspired dresses are just a few of the finishing touches costume designer Jacqueline Durran dreamt up for Keira Knightley’s for the role Joe Wright’s 2012 film.

A/W12 Womenswear – Designed by Giles Deacon 

Flowing skirts and tight restricted arms meet layers of what looks like torn ribbons of silk, built up into floor length dresses.

Louis Vuitton Collection – Designed by Yayoi Kusama 

 

Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has To Travel – Directed by Lisa Immordino

I Want Muscle – Directed by Elisha Smith-Leverock

 

AW12 Collection – Designed by Craig Green

This was a presentation of clothing with large wooden structures inspired by luggage carriers.

Commes De Garcons RTW A/W12 – Designed by Rei Kawakubo

The collection plays with 2D shapes in bright colors.

Christian Dior RTW S/S13 – Designed by Raf Simons

The designer explored the ideas of sex and freedom combining minimalism with sensuality and silhouette exploration.
Prada S/S12 RTW Collection – Designed by Miuccia Prada

This collection was a turning back  to the bourgeois taste first set out in the 90’s.

Proenza Schouler A/W12 Collection – Designed by Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough

In this creations, the designers were inspirated from different forms of fighting such as martial arts, fencing, samurai or  kendo.

 

In Furniture categorie:

The Sea Chair – Designed by Studio Swine & Kieren Jones

The ‘Sea Chair’ is made entirely from plastic recovered from the oceans. An awareness to all the garbage people do.

 

Liquid Glacial Table – Designed by Zaha Hadid

 

 

A-Collection – Designed by Ronan and Erwan Bourellec for Hay

 

Made ofoak and beech, the inspiration for this collection is an old wooden university trestle chair.

Gravity Stool – Designed by Jolan Van Der Wiel

 

Well Proven Chair – Designed by James Shaw and Marjan van Aubel

 

Tié Paper Chair – Designed by Pinwu

The Tié chair is the second paper chair made by the studio and it was inspired by Yuhang Aper Umbrellas.

 

100 Chairs – Designed by Marni

This is a very particular series that were produced by Colombian ex-prisoners using the colour palettes of traditional Colombian chairs.

 

Medici Chair – Designed by Konstantin Grcic for Mattiazzi

This is a totally made of wood chair with very geometyrical lines and clean design.

 

Re-Imagined Chairs – Designed by Studiomama (Nina Tolstrup and Jack Mama)

 

 

Engineering Temporality – Designed by Studio Markunpoika  

Engineering Temporality is the creation that gives an unexpected use to tubular steel. With this, the designer is trying to create a bridge between the metaphysical and the material world using design as medium of expression.

 

Corniches – Designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec for Vitra

Corniches are the solution to bring some use to your walls and decorate them at the same time. Besides, they are separately, so you can use them where you want.

 

Future Primitives – Designed by Muller Van Severen

This is a very functional structure that that includes hanging lamps and chairs that are shelved creating each structure.
