Arihiro Miyake was born in Japan, he incially focus his carrier as an interior designer developing japanese restaurants. He moved to Finland to continue his studies in furniture and spatial design, during that time he work for the designer Ilkka Suppanen and Yrio Wiherheimo. In 2004 he started his own design studio.
Today Studio Arihiro Miyake is based in Finland and he designs from furniture, product, lighting to research projects.
In 2005 Miyake designed “DO IT YOURSELF” a cultery set . It´s secret is in the name, the cultery is pre-cut on an aluminum sheet and can be folded by hand.
Forget the ugly plastic forks this set is ideal to a party or camping, easy, recyclable and elegant.
FORT(2009), an acoustic partition system.
Its blocks made of recycled PET bottle fibre are easly modified, there is no limited to de extensibility of this wall and it can be ajusted to a persons or a space needs.
MIYAKE LAMP, the light angle can be set by turning the metal polyhedron base.
This lamp can be found in two categories: table and floor. It created in 2010 and produced with Moooi.
Arihiro Miyake was a unique style that clearly gives an important role to the users. In his words: “I want my design to complet on the hands of the user”.
