Angeletti Ruzza Design Studio in Rieti, was opened in 1994, by Silvana Angeletti and Daniele Ruzzaan. They met each other at the public school for industrial design ” ISIA”, in Rome. Today we’re pleased to have Angeletti Ruzza Design Studio in Design Gallerist to tell us a little bit of their work and their design process.

Angeletti Ruzza Design Studio favourite part is the realization of the first prototypes, when what once was an idea can become reality. This is a very important part of our work, the concrete one, when we can verify the goodness of our design thinking. The synthesis of a long journey that requires a huge amount of concentration.

Please tell us more about your art and design background and what made you become an designer?

We are two different persons and we complete each other, but to express ourselves with a creative work has always been a fundamental part of our life, for both of us. In Angeletti Ruzza Design Studio point of view, creativity is the synthesis of imagination (with which you can elaborate new ideas) and concreteness (with which new ideas become reality). We’re attracted by the daily dimension of living, we believe that all the objects that enter in every people’s houses have the duty to ameliorate the quality of their lifes: they have to become their travelling companions. We’ve always being fascinated by that deep emotional connection that exists between a person and a thing.

Where do you get inspiration?
Well, I get inspiration from life! A book, a film, a trip, an exhibition, the observation of behaviours, feelings, nature, lights, the education one has received during his life… everything is inspiration for a design thought, based on our state of mind.
What was the movie or book that impressed you the most?
E Silvana: I choose The four agreements, by Miguel Ruiz, and Women Who Run With the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype by Clarissa Pinkola Est
Daniele: I choose two films, Blade Runner and The blues brothers.

Can you describe your style, how has that style developed over the years?
Angeletti Ruzza Design Studio follow a clean design. We’re in the continuous research of the power of semplicity, an ambitious goal. It’s hard to think it easily! This is a goal towards which we’ve been driving all our energies to since a long time, a constant work that sometimes gives us great results: objects with no time, quiet objects that go hand in hand with every person’s life, with a certain amount of harmony. Femininity is a central element of our work, there’s always a certain sweetness in our work, even when we want to be more austere.
What are you working on at the moment?
Angeletti Ruzza Design Studio is producing new items for My home Collection, Brilliant and Daa. Moreover, we have new projects for Guzzini and Oluce and interesting news regarding the bathroom world… but it’s too early to talk about it.
For you what makes a product rare?
Rare are those products that, not only has a beautiful shape in line with the function, but most of all can satisfy the deep desire of art and poetry
What would people be surprised to learn about Angeletti Ruzza Design Studio?
Maybe, that we’ve been living and working in a little city in the center of Italy, far away from Northern Italy and Milan design atmosphere, for 20 years by now.
