The work of Dackelid is mostly characterized by craftsmanship and kinesthetic materials, thats allows that their properties takes an important place, in a visually and sustainable manner.
I am inspired by reusing craft and apply it in a new context.
This young designer on is short but short but substantial career are exploring industrial design, art and architecture, Dackelid settled on furniture design as her main subject.
The top of the ‘Wooden Cloth’ table is designed like a caterpillar track so it can be extended bit by bit to the required length. When the table needs extending, beams stored beneath the top are slid out on either side to push up the hanging batons one by one and create a longer flat surface. The triangular cross-sections allow the batons to rest at right angles to each other and hang vertically from the table edges. The designer’s intention is that the flexibility of the piece will give it greater longevity.
“I strive for designs that are true to the materials and allowing the materials properties take place, in a visually and sustainable manner.” Made of locally sourced ash wood, the flexible furniture piece can be adapted to the space available as well as different living situations.
