Florence-based footwear brand, Aquazzura, chose Korban to designs it first US flagship store along madison avenue in new york. He chose pastel tones, texture, and materials to combine and create a stylish boutique for its manhattan location but still reminiscent of the footwear brand’s Italian roots.
The Aquazzura flagship proposes a rich palette of gold because of the brass, blushed pink on the walls and flooring. The black and white stripes on the arches are inspired by the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella in Florence. The interior merges classic Florentine elements, such as pink marble and suede, with a contemporary Manhattan aesthetic.
The boutique is situated between 74th and 75th streets, and next to the met Breuer and in order to expose this two-floor boutique to the public, the 17-foot building’s original façade was designed to be a glass transparent storefront that makes its interior more arresting.
