Gracelee Lawrence is a list of talents.

First an artist, and follow a teacher, a sculptor works with synergies of food, body, and technology. But in this list do not stop here: writer, cook, traveler, macramé enthusiast, and lifelong horsewoman. And above all a creative mind.

As you go down in this article you will face sculptures like fruit fountains, women’s bodies combine with natural elements, and so on. The idea is the transfigurative space between physical and digital reality. Exploring the ways in which bodies are both gendered and metaphorically fragmented.

Gracelee’s life was not always a fantasy.

The artist has attended more than 20 residencies in the early days of her journey inside the US and abroad. And only in May 2019 she opened her first solo show in New York at Thierry Goldberg.

Currently, she is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Sculpture at the University at Albany, SUNY. But without never losing the sculpture side, Gracelee art is all over the country. The exhibitions include Postmasters Gallery, Greenpoint Terminal Gallery, SPRING/BREAK Art Fair, Tiger Strikes Asteroid in New York, and others you may find in Los Angels, Brooklyn, Washington, Seatle and so.. . In 2017 she returned from 15 months as a Visiting Professor in the Multidisciplinary Department of Art at Chiang Mai University and assistant to artist Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook on a Luce Scholars Fellowship.

She is a member of the collective MATERIAL GIRLS, and earns many prizes. Also featured in magazines as The New Yorker, ArtNet, Hyperallergic, Artspace, Beautiful/Decay, and MAAKE Magazine, among others.
Competing and training horses in dressage and eventing since childhood, Gracelee is a proud graduate of the United States Pony Club.
