Light and glass are intertwined matter, and Glas Italia plays with this alchemy in its modern glass furniture. Founded by the Arosio family in Brianza, Italy, the company specialises in producing large crystal plates and invented a technique to make colored, mirrored versions of them.

For its 2014 catalogue, collaborators like Johanna Grawunder, Nendo, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Ron Gilad, Tokujin Yoshioka and Patricia Urquiola introduced illusions like iridescence, illuminated crackles and even a wood finish. And when they stuck to the clear stuff, the results are still rife with plays on form, as in Italian architect Piero Lissoni‘s crumpled borosilicate vases and cleanly glued bookcases with a graphic, staircase effect.
