Design Solutions* to Contemporary Issues

Designers are addressing major issues, ranging from the shortage of space to material efficiency. Many have also explored themes like urban nomadicism. We selected the 3 modular solutions which investigate these contemporary dilemmas.

Heavy Stock by Knauf and Brown

Shelving units usually provide too little or too much storage space. This system accommodates any situation. In addition, Heavy Stock’s steel plates and ash-wood legs can support human weight.

Camp Collection by Stephanie Hornig

Bringing the outdoors inside, Hornig employed materials and construction methods normally attributed to the camping industry. She created a versatile and transportable furniture collection.

Il Treno by Tjep

Inspired by Agatha Christies’ Murder on the Orient Express, This table unit resembles a train dining car. With transportation industry-inspired steps, railings and compartments, no space is wasted.
